Vietnam War Commemoration
In Accordance With Public Law 110-181 SEC.598; the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act authorized the Secretary of Defense to conduct a program to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and “in conducting the commemorative program, the Secretary shall coordinate, support, and facilitate other programs and activities of the Federal Government, State and local governments, and other persons and organizations in commemoration of the Vietnam War.”
VIETNAM VETERAN LAPEL PIN
“A Lasting Memento of the Nation’s Thanks!”
The Commemoration is providing Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pins to Commemorative Partners for dignified public presentations to living U.S. military veterans who served during the Vietnam War period as a lasting memento of the nation’s thanks.
Living United States veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period of November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, regardless of location, are eligible to receive one lapel pin.
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians will be honoring Vietnam Veterans on Friday, October 5th, 2018 at the Cherokee Fairgrounds Stage in Cherokee, NC.
There will only be one ceremony and it will begin about 12:15 so you should be on stage no later than 12:00 if you plan to attend and receive one of the pins.
